The mood of a Halloween evening is mysterious, exciting and cautious… especially in an open area – like a farm. Trick or Treating on Halloween night is a different experience for rural area children. Neighbours are old friends who love to chat for 5 – 10 minutes while stopping at each home, and driving house to house can also add on to the time of 5 – 10 minutes. But… with each stop, it is worth it’s weight in gold for the amount of candy received.
The Shima children decided to visit the grandparents farm this year for trick-or-treating, since each year they have been running house to house in the city. It may be a tradition for them every year, as they enjoyed the differences of having breaks and loading up with large lunch bags of candy from most homes. The most shocking was a family-sized bag of chips and a pop – this will be burnt into their memories of childhood forever as an experience to remember.
